This week our Featured Provider is HumanaCare and the search keyword is "HumanaCare EFAP" to access their solution!
The HumanaCare program is designed to help individuals who are experiencing stress and anxiety, personal or work-related. Where other programs’ are designed to be very short-term in nature, the HumanaCare program will work with the employee to find resolutions, often through the counselling alone. Therefore, we can work within the EFAP model, to support and address the presenting issues experienced by employees. Generally speaking, for short-term counselling, most needs can be solved in 4-6 sessions, however we recognize that there are exceptions to this and the unlimited model allows for clinical latitude and flexibility where required. In other words, we use the appropriate number of services to solve the short term issue. If there is a long term component to the issue, our counsellor and nurses will help identify and transition to long term support through other means (public/benefits) following any support to a short term component/issue.
Much of the EFAP industry focuses on the utilization rate as the core measure of success. While we agree it is important to understand how many people are using the service, how often and what components they are using, our experience has shown that it is far more important to focus on the quantity of highly desirable outcomes that the EFAP program is helping to achieve and what the usage data tells us about the “paths most frequently selected.” We believe that the reports should help you understand how the EFAP impacts your workforce; what trends are occurring, and ultimately how to improve the value of the service to your employees. HumanaCare defines utilization according to Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) and this is only direct face-to-face utilization.
We also believe that we are often the bridge between the employee and the employer such that we often are privileged with information regarding the employees mental and physical health. While confidentiality and privacy are paramount, we can provide insights to the organization where they may not exist previously. Rather than focusing on utilization rate as an indicator of success (instead it is a measure of awareness/engagement of services) we focus on providing meaningful information to the organization to drive improvements in employee health and employee engagement.
Cost varies based on the size of group, industry and any prior utilization history. Range is $2.00 - $4.00 PEPM.
